“Crinkle Crags is much too good to be missed. For the mountaineer who prefers his mountains rough, who likes to see steep craggy slopes towering before him into the sky, who enjoys an up-and-down ridge walk full of interesting nooks and corners, who has an appreciative eye for magnificient views, this is a climb deserving of high priority.” A.Wainwright

One of the Lake District’s largest mountains, Bowfell stands at 902m and together with Crinkle Crags, this is one of the very best high-level walks in Lakeland!

A tough day on the mountain, but the rewards are worth it! This incredible route has just got everything you’d expect from an iconic walk, from tough climbs to spectacular panoramic views including the surrounding fells, tarns and majestic lakes!

Both Bowfell and Crinkle Crags are rated no.2 and no.4 best Wainwrights respectively by members of Walkhighlands.co.uk!

“Timid walkers will be less happy and may find the mountain hostile but should attempt it: “other mountains are climbed and forgotten but Crinkle Crags will always be remembered”   A.Wainwright

It is not hard to see why, ‘this grand mountain sits at the head of Great Langdale, the district’s most popular valley for walkers’ and together with Crinkle Crags, with its five distinctive mini summits, offers a mountain day out that will never be forgotten!

‘Then I realised that to be more alive, I had to be less afraid. So I did it. I lost my fear and gained my whole life.’
