Looking for an unforgettable hiking weekend in the Lake District?
Our 5 Wainwrights Circular is the flagship hike of our Boot Up Adventures Lake District itinerary — a stunning, full-day guided walk that captures the drama, beauty, and character of the Northern Fells.
Come and join us on our Lake District Hiking Weekend of relaxed walking in a small sociable group, sharing the adventure, making new friends and enjoying the authentic Hostel experience.
Situated in the North West of England, The Lake District National Park was established in 1951 and covers an area of 912 square miles.
The most beautiful mountainous area of England, famous for picture perfect lakes and forests, as well as it’s many well known fells and its associations with William Wordsworth and other Lake Poets and also with Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin.
We arrive on Friday evening to be greeted by our Host, settle in and enjoy a lovely freshly prepared meal whilst getting to know each other. A little music, fun and games whilst sat around a real fire … but don’t get carried away, we’re up early and out for a full days hiking, taking in spectacular scenery, in and around the outstanding national park.
5-Wainwrights Hiking Weekend in the Lake District
This 11 mile circular hike links five classic Wainwright summits in one rewarding route: the sweeping ridge of Souther Fell, the iconic pyramid of Blencathra, the wide open heights of Mungrisdale Common, the rugged escarpment of Bannerdale Crags, and the airy moorland dome of Bowscale Fell. Together, they create a perfect combination of big views, varied terrain, and a deep sense of mountain immersion.
As the main day of your guided hiking weekend, this route showcases everything walkers love about the Lake District: dramatic ridges, peaceful valleys, wildlife-rich corries, and outstanding 360° panoramas across the Northern Fells. With far fewer crowds than the central Lakes, this area offers the space, tranquillity, and wild feeling many hikers seek.
Led by a qualified Boot Up Adventures guide, you’ll enjoy safe route-finding, steady pacing, expert support, and fascinating insights into the geology, history, and Wainwright heritage of the region. We take care of every detail — you simply walk, explore, and soak up the mountain atmosphere.
Why this 5-Wainwright circular is the highlight of our Lake District hiking weekend:

“Fantastic weekend with Boot Up Adventures in Snowdonia. Lovely group, amazing walking/ scrambling with spectacular views and lovely food (vegan here!), followed by cosy vibes and guitar around the fire at night. Thanks guys I will be back!”
“A minor glimpse of the majesty of the mountains by day, followed by the melodic charms of the strings by moonlight [courtesy of Mr Midgley’s talented mitts] made for another buoyant evening with the ‘Boot’s Up’ crowd. Once again, a warm welcome from an amiable crowd and an ever gracious host; counting the days until the next one ⛰️🎸🎶😎”
