Come and join us for our Snowdonia Hiking Weekend of relaxed walking in a small sociable group, sharing the adventure, making new friends and enjoying the authentic hostel experience.
Situated on the west coast of Wales, Snowdonia National Park is one of the most beautiful, historic and diverse landscapes of Britain, making it Wales’s undisputed activity capital.
It covers 823 square miles and is world renowned for its rugged landscape and geology, and Wales’s highest mountain, Snowdon, also known by its historical name Yr Wyddfa.
We arrive on Friday evening to be greeted by our Host, settle in and enjoy a lovely freshly prepared meal whilst getting to know each other. A little music, fun and games whilst sat around a real fire … but don’t get carried away, we’re up early and out for a full days hiking,
Discover the Wild Heart of Snowdonia: Crimpiau
Ready for a hike that captures the very essence of adventure in Snowdonia? Our route is the perfect blend of rugged beauty, peaceful solitude, and panoramic mountain drama.
This exhilarating journey leads you through a trio of lesser-known peaks that punch well above their weight. You’ll start with the shapely summit of Crimpiau, offering sweeping views toward the Ogwen Valley and the dramatic skyline of the Glyderau. From there, the trail winds into wilder, quieter terrain as you ascend Creigiau Gleision, a rocky ridge that rewards your efforts with expansive vistas across the Carneddau and the sparkling lakes below. Finally, you’ll crest Craig Wen, a perfect finale with a 360° sweep of untouched Snowdonia wilderness.
Whether you’re seeking a full-day challenge, breathtaking landscapes without the crowds, or a route that captures that true mountain-escape feeling, this hike delivers. Dramatic ridges, serene valleys, and unforgettable photo points—this is Snowdonia at its most authentic.
After our first day of hiking, we return to our hostel late afternoon to reflect on a brilliant day’s trekking whilst being treated to another exceptional freshly prepared home cooked meal, followed by a great night of socialising!
After breakfast, Sunday sees us taking on a fantastic scramble up Senior’s Gully, taking in spectacular scenery, in and around the outstanding Ogwen Valley.
We begin by making our way around Llyn Idwal, the picturesque glacial lake, to the beginning of Senior’s Gully, where we start our ascent on a relatively steep broken path encountering some scree and sometimes crossing over the little streams we might encounter.
Eventually we begin our scramble proper and on the way up are faced with classic scrambling, which in places have a little technical aspect to them giving rise to it’s grade 1 status.
It doesn’t take too long for us to reach the top of Senior’s Gully, where we’ll stop for a short break to take in what we’ve just accomplished, before continuing to the summit of Glyder Fawr.
The views from here are spectacular, taking in the adjacent Carneddau mountain range and a clear view of where we’ll be descending, via the unmistakable Devil’s Kitchen.

“Fantastic weekend with Boot Up Adventures in Snowdonia. Lovely group, amazing walking/ scrambling with spectacular views and lovely food (vegan here!), followed by cosy vibes and guitar around the fire at night. Thanks guys I will be back!”
“A minor glimpse of the majesty of the mountains by day, followed by the melodic charms of the strings by moonlight [courtesy of Mr Midgley’s talented mitts] made for another buoyant evening with the ‘Boot’s Up’ crowd. Once again, a warm welcome from an amiable crowd and an ever gracious host; counting the days until the next one ⛰️🎸🎶😎”
