Highlights
Cost: £35.00
The Llanberis Path is the most popular route taken for Snowdon as it has a more gentle ascent. It starts in the village of Llanberis, which is abundant with accommodation and parking, giving you the choice of rocking up in the morning or staying the night before.
The Llanberis path follows the Snowdon Mountain Railway track and goes by Hebron, Halfway and Clogwyn stations. There is a cafe halfway up and you’ll enjoy views of Dinorwig Slate Quarry on the slopes of Elidir Fawr, the site of the largest hydro-electric power station in Europe.
Also the remarkable geological feature of Clogwyn Du’r Arddu, which was formed over thousands of years as the earth moved and transformed horizontal deposits into vertical layers of rock which are now considered the most difficult rock climbing face in Wales.
As you near the summit, you’ll be treated to views of the imposing knife edge ridge of Crib Goch, as well as the many beautiful glacial lakes down below.
