“Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so…. get on your way!”
Dr Seuss
Y Garn is situated in Ogwen Valley, which is a stunning part of the Snowdonia National Park in north Wales. This wide glacial valley is surrounded by soaring mountains, and features placid lakes as well as historic towns and industrial heritage.
Y Garn itself, standing at 947m, is the tenth highest peak in Wales and forms part of the fantastic Glyderau mountain range.
We start by tackling in Y Garn with its spectacular views of not only the Glyders and Llyn Idwall, but also the Nant Peris valley, as well as LLyn Ogwen and the Carneddau mountain range including Wales’ second and third highest mountains… Carnedd Llewelyn and Carnedd Dafydd.
After Y Garn we make our way north across the ridge, taking in Foel-Goch, Mynydd Perfedd and finally Carnedd y Filiast. Across this section we will be treated to absolutely spectacular views of the Snowdon Massif and the North Wales coastline.
Finally we’ll drop down and return along the Snowdonia Slate Trail which follows Afon Ogwen, the river that flows through the Nant Ffrancon Valley.
A fulfilling mountain day, for those looking for something a little more interesting, challenging and away from the hustle and bustle of Snowdon.
anywhere in Snowdonia!
